Ministry training for Northwestern Ontario
We are Northwestern Ontario’s first theological college, bringing theological training to Thunder Bay and beyond. Our approach is holistic and flexible — online, in-person, and part-time options are available.
We aren’t starting yet, but our partner institution, the Northern Ontario Theological Assocation (NOTA) is!
NOTA will offer 13 lectures on the theme, “Pathways to Understanding World Religions.”

To enrol in the lectures in-person, e-mail us here.

Donations will cover AV equipment, pay the professors, cover administration costs, and start an Abbey library. Designate your donation to “Urban Abbey School.”
Having a healthy relationship with God as a disciple of Jesus is foundational to Christian ministry. At the Abbey school, students will not only learn about the historic disciplines of our faith, but they will have opportunities to practise them with the community.
Community Life and Service
A defining part of what it means to be an Abbey is to have a common life of prayer and service. Whether studying online or in person, students are part the Urban Abbey community at prayer and in serving the poor in one of Canada’s poorest cities.
Scripture and Theology
It has been said that everything you need to know about God you can learn from Jesus, and everything you need to know about Jesus you can learn from the Bible. Our courses will help students encounter the Creator God in Scripture, at prayer, in His creation, and in community, training them up to help others find Him and follow His way.
We are an exciting, new theological college associated with the Urban Abbey, Thunder Bay.
At the Urban Abbey, we exist to reflect the face of Jesus and be a blessing to our community.
